The NHS has published the final findings of Dr Nigel Watson’s wide-ranging review on the future of general practice.
He identified key issues for GPs and some worrying statistics. Only 19% of GP trainees would consider partnership – a further 55% said they would never consider a partnership. This is due to a number of key reasons and high up on the list was reducing or removing the risk of premises ownership.
Key recommendations for the future will include shorter more flexible leases and with undertakings from the NHS to continue leases for as long as premises are suitable for purpose.
In the meantime, for many doctors thinking of general practice, buying into practice premises is no longer attractive.
General Practice Equity Release provides a simple and uncomplicated solution to this problem and improving recruitment possibilities.
